Mr. Bracken is the Chair of the Board of Consultants. Mr. Bracken has extensive experience leading consulting teams in support of healthcare organizations nationally and internationally. He is a founding partner of Chasware Group LLC. Prior to the formation of Chasware Group for four years, Mr. Bracken was Managing Director of ACS Healthcare Solutions now a Xerox Corporation company. ACS Healthcare Solutions was formed by the purchase of Superior Consultant Company Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ) by ACS. At Superior, Mr. Bracken was executive vice president, a member of the board of directors, and a consultant for 18 years. Prior to Superior Consultant, Mr. Bracken held various positions in healthcare as a vice president of sales, a CIO, and financial analyst. Mr. Bracken received a B.S. in Accounting and a M.B.A. from Wayne State University. He completed the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford University, Graduate School of Business. Mr. Bracken is a current or recent senior adviser to the following growth companies: VisionIT, Inc., SCI Solutions, Inc., and Computer Consulting Operations Specialists, Inc.
David R. Williams
David R. Williams is the Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and Professor of African and African American Studies and of Sociology at Harvard University. He is internationally recognized as a leading social scientist focused on social influences on health. His research has enhanced our understanding of the complex ways in which race, racism, socioeconomic status, stress, health behaviors and religious involvement can affect physical and mental health. The Everyday Discrimination scale that he developed is currently one of the most widely used measures to assess perceived discrimination in health studies. He is the author of more than 350 scholarly papers in scientific journals and edited collections and his research has appeared in leading journals in sociology, psychology, medicine, public health and epidemiology. The Journal of Black Issues in Higher Education, ranked him as the Most Cited Black Scholar in the Social Sciences in 2008. And Thomson Reuters ranked him, in 2014, as one of the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds based on his scientific articles published between 2002 and 2012.
Dr Williams has played a visible, national leadership role in raising awareness levels of the problem of health disparities and identifying interventions to address them. He served as the staff director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Commission to Build a Healthier America. This national, independent and nonpartisan health commission was focused on identifying evidence-based non-medical strategies that can improve the health of all Americans and reduce racial and socioeconomic gaps in health.
Dr. Williams has appeared on national television, including ABC’s Evening News, CNN, PBS, the Katie Couric Show, Al Jazeera, the Hope Channel, C-SPAN and the Discovery Channel. His research has been featured or he has been quoted in the national print media including the New York Times, Time, Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Essence, Jet and USA Today. He was also a key scientific advisor to the award-winning PBS film series, Unnatural Causes: Is inequality Making Us Sick?
Angelique Day is a Senior Consultant at PRES. Angelique is also an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at Wayne State University. She graduated from Western Michigan University with a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences. Her dissertation entitled, “An Examination of Post-Secondary Educational Access, Retention, and Success of Foster Care Youth,” was awarded the prestigious dissertation award in August 2011 by the Section on Child Maltreatment from the American Psychological Association, and the findings were recently published in the top ranked
Children and Youth Services Review journal.
Prior to her appointment at WSU, Dr. Day worked as the founder and coordinator of Michigan State University’s Foster Youth Alumni Services Program, a college access and retention program for students who have aged out of foster care and are interested in obtaining a post-secondary credential. Day was also formerly employed with Michigan’s Children, a statewide, private, non-profit children’s advocacy organization, where she provided leadership in developing the agency’s child welfare policy agenda. She also led the Youth Policy Leadership Program, an effort that provided opportunities for youth voice, many of whom were in foster care, in the public policy debate. In addition to her work with young people aging out of foster care, Day has experience working for the Michigan Department of Human Services as a child protective services worker, as well as extensive experience in research and training, including services in tribal communities across the State. Day’s professional experience in research, policy development, child welfare practice, and her personal experiences as a former ward of the court, make her uniquely qualified to continue to provide leadership in training, research, and consultation in the field of child welfare
Dr. James Mason is Senior Consultant at PRES. In addition to this, Dr. Mason is a Chief Diversity Officer for Providence Health & Services in Oregon, a 17,000-member health system. Dr. Mason is the former Director of the Office of Multicultural Health for the State of Oregon; and, one of the founders of the National Association of State Offices of Minority Health (NASOMH) where he served as treasurer. In collaboration with the Georgetown Child Development Center, Dr. Mason worked to develop a model of cultural competence for children’s mental health, along with a tool for assessing cultural competence. He is a founding member of the National Center on Cultural Competence at Georgetown University where he worked to improve health services to diverse populations. Dr. James Mason has worked in higher education as an administrator, researcher, and educator since 1977; and has provided speaking or consultative services to colleges, universities, and health and human service bureaucracies in the United States, Latin America, and Canada. His focus has been culturally competent organizational and work force development. He has applied cultural competence to a variety of service disciplines including: healthcare, public health, mental health, child welfare, higher education and compulsory education.
